If you haven't heard of a cake smash then im here to tell you a bit more about them!

The cake smash has been big if not massive for several years. I think it really grew big in the USA first of all. The idea being that you give your child who's traditionally turning 1 a birthday cake all of their own and let them get stuck in.

It quickly became a service that photographers offered and hasn't really looked back.

But is it a new idea or does it originate from somewhere?

Well after a bit of research it appears it comes from a Mexican tradition called “la mordida,” when the birthday girl or boy’s hands are tied behind their back and their face is shoved into the cake for them to take the first bite, whilst everyone around them shouts “Mordida! Mordida! Mordida!”

For them it symbolises good luck!!

Now obviously photographers don't tie children's hands behind their backs, nor do they shove their face into the cake! Although I have known a few parents to do this!!:)

The set up is tailored to your requirements. Your choice of colours or theme. We will work together to come up with a design your'll love.

We always start off the session with a few images of your little person pre cake!!

Its nice to get a few a few before the mess begins!

Then they get stuck in and make a mess!

Then when they've had enough cake we give them a little bubble bath!

They usually LOVE this bit!

We blow bubbles and its a really nice way to finish off their session!

Jag - Hello my name is jag first of all just want to say I love your photos.. I came across your website whilst browsing and looking to do a cake smash for my son who turns 1 I know it’s a bit last min but we couldn’t decide on whether to do one or not but after looking at photos we have decided to get one done.
