So Covid 19 has messed with everyone's lives.
It’s changed the world we live in dramatically on so many levels.
For new mums and Dads it’s meant a totally different experience from the one they would have had BC (Before Covid)
From hospital appointments to missed baby showers, their birthing experience and of course having friends and family visit (or not visit) to see the new baby.
New and experienced parents have missed out on so much and the newborn photoshoot unfortunately has been one of them.

At the beginning of every Lockdown I have cried in dispair.
Cried for all the new families who wouldn't get their beautiful images of their tiny new addition.
Cried for not being able to do what I love.
But whats its done for me and Newborn photographers up and down the country is learn to adapt.
We have adapted our skills, our posing techniques and our expectations.
We have learnt that older baby sessions are just as beautiful as the tiny baby shoots, all be it sometimes a little trickier!

The reason Newborn photographers have give a 7-21 day policy for a newborn session is because this is when newborns are most sleepy and curly.
However what we've discovered with the older baby photoshoot is that with a little patience and good timing once an older baby falls asleep they invariably sleep really well. This means you can still get some of those perfect newborn styled images.
The other bonus of the older baby is that they smile! And look at you while you're talking to them.

The session may take longer or it may be quicker. I like to have a chat about expectations and get a feel for what type of images you want. If you desperately wanted the baby in a bucket image it may be possible but there could be a lot of waiting around for a deep sleep to happen.
Ultimately the baby always comes first and if they don't like the bucket we don't do the bucket.

Once baby is in to the realms of 6 weeks plus the session may alter again. But please don't worry, every session will be led by them and no matter what we will of course have beautiful images of you and your baby to treasure forever!

Sophie Sharp - Hi, I had a baby 2 weeks ago and we have only just been discharged from hospital as he was early. I was wondering if you have any availability for a baby/parent photo session? Many thanks, Sophie
